Training
The Barona Fire Department maintains a busy training schedule. We are a JPA member of the Heartland Fire Training Facility in El Cajon. This provides our firefighters the opportunity to access the facility and train on specialized props, flow water, participate in multi-company drills with other agencies in standardized operating methods, as well as specialized topics facing the ever-changing fire service.
Barona Fire Department also participates and hosts (occasionally) the San Diego County Wildland Drill which is a collaborative effort bringing all fire and law enforcement agencies together in preparation for the upcoming fire season. We also attend Camp Pendleton Fire School in June, where firefighters attack live wildland fire situations as well as participate with Cal Fire and the U.S. Forest Service in prescribed burns enhancing our training and education.
Barona Firefighters also train daily on firefighter tactics, EMS skills, health and fitness, mental health awareness and attend educational classes and seminars as it pertains to the fire service.
